CO2 Rail Car Dragster

Welcome to cudacountry's SOLIDWORKS 2016 and Mastercam X9 CO2 Rail Car Tutorials. We use SOLIDWORKS 2016 to design our cars and Mastercam X9 to create CNC toolpaths to cut the car body.

Part 1. Blank. Includes cylindrical and center plane Mate References. This tutorial is the same as Shell Car blank.

2. Body. Includes Lofted cockpit with guides curves and Split Line windows! Big file so hold your horses. After completing this chapter, try the Decals Chapter 17 to add decals to configurations to create color/decal schemes.

Part 4. Front Tire. Use on all front rims.
Assembly 5. Wheel Assembly. Use this tutorial for all Wheel Assemblies.

Part 7. Rear Tire with raised letters. Use on all rear rims. Use Chapter 5 to assembly Rear Rim and Rear Tire.
Part 8. Rear Rim Spokes. Featuring Split Line spokes.
Part 9. Front Rim Spokes. Copy Rear Rim Spokes file and simply change dimensions to create Front Rim.
Assembly 10. Wheel Assembly Spokes with Bolts from toolbox.

Part 15. Eye Screw with Mates. This tutorial uses the new 2016 Thread Wizard to create threads. If you are using an older version of SW use this tutorial.

20. SW16 to Mastercam 2017. In this new 2017 tutorial you open your SW body file in Mastercam 2017. In Mastercam 2017 the solid body is moved to Mastercam origin. Next, create WCS plane to position solid body into the correct Mastercam XY axis. Then create check solid. Units are metric. Old X9 tutorial.

20. SW2019 to Mastercam 2020. Open your SW body file in Mastercam 2020. In Mastercam the solid car body is rotated into the correct Mastercam XY axis and moved to Mastercam origin. Then create check solid to keep tool away from fixture. Finish off with creating WCS plane. Units are metric. This tutorial also works with Mastercam 2019.

21. Body toolpaths. Units are all metric. Toolpaths to cut rail car body from balsa blank: 1) Cut body left side using finish Hybrid toolpath. 3) Mirror left cut to right side cut. Old X9.
