I highly recommend using the new 2016 tutorials.

Part 1. Blank. Units are all metric.

2. Body. Now uses Style Spline in sketches for side and bottom cuts. The Style Spline is new in 2014.


3. SW15 to MCX9. In this new X9 tutorial using HST toolpaths you open your SW body file in Mastercam X9. In Mastercam X9 rotate solid body into the correct Mastercam XY axis, use AutoCusor Arc Center to move solid body to Mastercam origin and then create check solid. Also, you create two WCS planes for toolplanes.
4. MCX9 HST toolpaths to cut shell car body from balsa blank: 1) Bottom shell wheel cutouts using very cool rough Area Clearance deep plunge Trochoidal elliptical cuts and finish Raster. 2) Cut body left side using finish Hybrid toolpath. 3) Mirror left cut to right side cut.

14. Decals. Flames and Band decals for Body. Click here for decal files. Files include alpha layer.
15. Render. Add Camera and create rendering using PhotoView 360.
16. Analyze in Wind Tunnel. Analyze assembly design using Flow Simulation and create animation of flow trajectories. Our best was 12.72 drag! Can you design car with less drag?

20. Mastercam X9 for SOLIDWORKS Toolpaths. Start with rotating solid body into the correct Mastercam XY toolplanes to cut car from balsa blank. Next, create bottom cut shells toolpath using very cool Area Rough deep plunge Trochoidal elliptical cuts. Create side cuts with left cut finish Hybrid toolpath and mirror to right cut all within SOLIDWORKS.
